While medicine is often considered as much an art as it is a science, rarely is it considered a language. Within healthcare however, one is exposed to a vast new vocabulary of complex and often esoteric terminology. To add to this challenge, the naïve native spell checking software built into most word processors cannot distinguish correctly spelt medical word from errors, making proof reading impossible. We felt a solution to this would be invaluable, but found the only available product lacking. We therefore developed an affordable and extensively compatible British medical spell checking programme built for students as well as healthcare professionals. Our small widget of software seamlessly integrates itself into a user’s word processing programme (Office or iWork), enabling them to proofread their documents.
